Kvislaveitur dams and canals
Kvislaveita is the common name given to a series of dams, canals, channels and bottom gate structures to provide a flow of several tributaries of Thjorsa and the uppermost part of the river Thjorsa at Thorisvatn reservoir.
Sudurverk executed phase 3 and 5 of this work as well as working on the Thorisvatn reservoir. Kvislaveita phase 3 was carried out in 1983-1984. The volume was 1.300.000 m³. The 5th Phase of Kvislaveita was constructed in 1996 and 1997 and the volume was 1,000,000 m³.
The wolume of work at Thorisvatn reservoir comprised 350,000 m³ excavation and 80,000 m³ of landfill took place between 2002 and 2003. Value was 12 million $.
